Using normal garden soil is a bad idea for growing vegetables in pots.
Instead use good quality potting mix for healthy growth of plants and productivity.
- Keep a Separate bin for Compost , Fill it with some soil then add your kitchen waste to it!
- Whenever the bin is nearly full add some leaves and cover it some soil.
- check it out after 3-4 weeks your compost is Ready, add it to the normal soil it will works as Booster to the Plants.
